GASAH – Greek & Swiss Animal Help

Kos

Welcome to GASAH

Greek & Swiss Animal Help (GASAH)

Our approach revolves around two pillars:

  • Sustainable change and emergency aid for animals in need. Our team of competent and qualified individuals leads our efforts.
  • In pursuit of long-term change, we focus on sterilization projects to prevent future suffering and educate for a better human-animal relationship.

We actively advocate for the enforcement of relevant legal regulations and maintain respectful and professional cooperation with authorities. For homeless animals, we provide temporary care and shelter, addressing their medical needs promptly. Our ultimate goal is to positively impact the lives of animals, both now and in the future.

Challenge

To tackle the incredible amount of stray animals across Kos, there is a need for a lot more donations.

We can only make this project a success with your help. Register to the newsletter, donate, shop - anything helps!

At Stepping Stone, our beautiful animal shelter on Kos, every animal that passes through gets remembered and has their name carefully painted onto a stone.

Results

Stepping Stone is the name of our animal shelter on Kos. The name is symbolic and means “taking a step towards a new life.” In 2007 over a 4000 square meter piece of land was privately purchased for GASAH on the island of Kos, Greece. Subsequently, shelter facilities were built. In 2015, GASAH was inspected and officially licensed as an animal welfare shelter. Thanks to donations, we now have state-of-art sheltered kennel facilities, a separate quarantine area for incoming dogs and cats, a separate cattery and three large runs with built-in play areas. Homeless animals in need now receive professional care and temporary shelter.
