About Naxos Animal Rescue Society
Our society is made up of a group of people who care about the welfare of stray and badly treated animals on Naxos. We formed a society because the efforts of individuals were not enough to solve all the problems. Together, as a group, we hope that we can do better for animals.
In the same way, as a society, we can co-operate with other animal welfare societies and with their help, improve our help for strays. As a newly re-formed group of enthusiastic animal lovers, we have many concerns about the welfare of stray and owned, abused animals on our island. Each of us has our own story to tell and a history of caring for and taking in street animals, which is why we need to come together.
Challenge
Lack of food, medication, and overall healthcare for the animals.
Solution
A united front.
The food is never enough, especially with 30 or 50 dogs and many more cats. Vets and medicines are necessary for the good health of the animals. The temporary foster area must be maintained, to remain safe for the animals and the volunteers. Τhe expenses always remind us, that without support, our work would be much more difficult than it is already, or even impossible.

Results
With the support of the foundation "Fondation Brigitte Bardot" we manage every year 150 sterilizations in cats and 40 sterilizations in dogs, on average. We also sterilize over 600 cats every year with the financial support of ETN - Europäischer Tier- und Naturschutz.
